Early Times Report
Jammu, July 19: With culmination of Presidential polls today, the ‘pestering’ phase will again begin for the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over certain political matters which have been put under the carpet for quite some time by him for more than one reason. All these matters remained in standstill mode after the election process for Presidential polls began , much to the relief of Chief Minister . Is the government in for some ‘pressures’ and pestering afresh on all those issues which it avoided conveniently….?

The Presidential polls , on account of which NC led coalition government in J&K shelved almost all political matters and deferred decisions related to key matters related to governance are , happily so over. Under this pretext, certain vital issues that have been hanging up between the allies NC and Congress remained stalled ,notwithstanding the fact Coordination Committee has since given nod to some matters and is awaiting ‘final take’ from the ‘bosses’ at the helm. Sources said Congress, the main ally of the ruling coalition did not ask for expediting matters in which it would be, rather has to be major beneficiary because of pre occupation of the party high command with this prime task. Now that it is over , the murmurs have again started in direction of much awaited reshuffle and expansion , a task which stands pending for over a year now, sources said adding that these may soon be seen in form of assertion from some quarters in Congress who have been anxiously and ambitiously waiting for it.
Even though Congress being equal partner is at present deprived of two major portfolios which belonged to it and retained by NC itself but for certain reasons has not been able to get these back . However , there is a growing grouse over leadership of the party letting the deprivation continue, something which has started internal fighting within the Congress party. Sources also confirmed that even though there are at least three main contenders for getting the vital R&B ministry back to Congress quota, a senior most leader of the party who is at present a cabinet minister in the Omar government is desperately trying to get this ministry . Sources said the said minister is also ambitious about the power ministry, a prestigious portfolio which is at present taken care of by the Chief Minister himself. Since this cannot happen easily, he is awaiting reshuffle as ‘opportunistic’ opportunity for it , sources said.
However, chances are remote for both these propositions in present set up when he is already enjoying cabinet status in the government . Nevertheless , the pressure from within the party from strong contenders may again keep the leadership on tenterhooks since some leaders have already ‘warned’ the latter of ‘undesirable political repercussions’ , no matter as a means of building pressure.
