Patwaris strike continues | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 19: Patwaris strike continued in favour of their demands including the removal of pay anomaly and its retrospective effect from the implementation of sixth Pay Commission recommendation in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that the revenue officials under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Patwari Association assembled for the third consecutive day in the premise of Deputy Commissioner's Office here and staged protest demonstrations. The Patwaris on Monday started three-day strike. This is the second round of strike by the revenue officials after five-day long strike in March this year. "As the government failed to respond to our demands, we have decided to extend strike till Monday," Provincial President of J&K Patwari Association, Mohammad Yaseen Mir, told Kashmir Reader. Besides the removal of pay anomaly and its retrospective effect from the implementation of sixth Pay Commission recommendation, the revenue officials demand recruitment of new Patwaris and appointment as Naib-Tehsildar of the members who have qualified revenue executive exam. Meanwhile, hundreds of Patwaries led by district president, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, staged a protest demonstration in Baramulla and also filed a memorandum to deputy Commissioner. In a statement here, Patwar Association Tehsil Tral headed by president Abdul Rashid Rather also extended full support to the call by the JKPA. |
