Jammu, July 19:Latest reports indicate that a truce has been hammered out among the activists of Lashkar-i-Toiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad, operating in Jammu and Kashmir, in order to eliminate chances of hobnobbing of local militants and foreign mercenaries. According to these reports, the truce has been forged by those handling training of rebels in camps across the LOC. Senior Army functionaries have received reports which have revealed that the entire infrastructure r elated to arms training, indoctrination in camps, equipping each militant with sophisticated weapons and required aid needed for pushing them into Jammu and Kashmir was intact across the LOC. Reports said that these handlers have brought between 500 and 600 militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons, on the launch pads across Kupwara, Tangdhar, Machel, Keran, Uri, Poonch, Rajouri. Smaller groups of militants have been waiting on the launch pads across Samba, Akhnoor and R S Pura sectors. Official sources said that Wednesday's grenade attack on the civil secretariat in Srinagar was part of the new plan of militants to target vital Government installations, security convoys and pickets. According to these sources, militants have been asked to avoid direct contact with the security forces to avoid elimination and instead bank on bomb, grenade and IED explosions to draw blood on a bigger scale. It is in this context that the Army authorities have been asked by the Ministry of Defence to strengthen he security grid on the entire LOC and the IB to foil infiltration bids. In addition to this security forces, deployed within the state, have been asked to intensify counter insurgency operations only on the basis of specific intelligence inputs to avoid harassment to the civilians. |
