Lawyers to go on strike today | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 19: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association has decided to protest against the enactment of J&K Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act of 2012 and its proposed application in the state of J&K on July 20. "In this regard the work shall remain suspended by the lawyers affiliated to the J&K High Court Bar Association across the state tomorrow on 20.07.2012 as a mark of one day protest against the enactment", said the HCBA spokesperson in a statement. He said, "The lawyers affiliated to the J&K High Court Bar Association as well as to the District and Mufassil Bar Association across the state have been requested to cooperate with the decision of the Bar Association and abstain from appearing before the courts on July 20 in order to register their protest against the enactment of J&K Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act of 2012". Meanwhile Jammu Bar Association is also registering their protest against the said enactment and the Jammu Bar Association has called for two days strike, said the statement. Pertinent to mention that J&K High Court Bar Association had already observed one day protest strike against the said enactment, as such, the J&K High Court Bar Association calls for only one day strike in the valley, said the statement adding "However, in Jammu province the protest strike shall also continue on Saturday the 21st of July 2012 as per the decision of the Jammu Bar Association" |
