Court work suffers due to non-appearance of Advocates

Jammu, July 20 (JNF) : The Work in the High Court Complex Janipur as well as Subordinate Courts of Jammu District suffered as the Advocates on strike for two days in protest against the Tenancy Act. The Bar Association Jammu today convened a meeting of the representative lawyers of the Bar Associations from Districts & Mufasils across Jammu Province which was held in the Justice ( retd.) A.S.Anand Hall, High Court Complex, Jammu, to discuss the repercussions of the J&K (Residential & Commercial) Tenancy Act, 2012, and the consensus strategy to oppose the enforcement of the Act upon the common masses. It is relevant to recollect that the Bar Association Jammu in its Executive Committee meeting held on 14-07-2012 had resolved to abstain from work on 20th & 21st of July 2012, against the enactment of the J&K (Residential & Commercial) Tenancy Act 2012. The Bar Association Jammu had called upon the Bar Associations in Kashmir Province and all the Districts and Mufassils to lodge similar protests in their respective areas. The lawyers from Districts & Mufasils accompanied their respective representatives Kuldip Dubey, President Bar Association Reasi, Yash Pal from Hiranagar Bar Association, Sunil Sharma from Katra Bar Association, Sukhdev Sam byal from Samba, Sunny Mahajan from Young Lawyers Association Udhampur. B.S.Slathia, President Bar Association Jammu, informed the members that on his last visit to Kashmir, he held parleys with the MA Qayoom, President Kashmir Bar Association, who also shared his concern over the new Tenancy Law. He complimented Bar Association Jammu for the initiative it has taken against the Govt's ill-advised enactment. Qay oom also expressed his support on the issue to Jammu Bar and informed that Kashmir Bar Association has also decided to abstain from work in protest on the call by Jammu Bar against the passing of the said Act.
