Congress to review ties with NC | `No change likely for now' | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 20 : The Congress is likely to review its relation with National Conference after the results of presidential elections are declared. This is what the reports from New Delhi suggest. Sources close to Congress do not rule out renewing ties with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This change of heart comes immediately after the PDP willingly supported the UA candidate Pranab Mukherjee if NC continued with its anti-Congress policies. Sources said the NC becomes `unmanageable' when it sits in opposition. This, according to them is the reason for supporting he status quo in Jammu Kashmir. The Chief Minister, Congress workers believe, has been taking senior Congress leaders for a ride. He has never bothered to take them into confidence, they said. Some of them have accused him of widening the wedge between two factions of the Congress. They said Omar has been supporting the faction led by Azad. New Delhi, sources said has decided to review functioning of the NC and its attitude viz-a-viz the Congress. They said the Congress may take a bold decision if NC continue4s to create problems for the Congress in Jammu Kashmir. However, for the time being no change seems likely as the high command is in favour of giving more time to the NC. |
