About 6350 pilgrims leave for Amarnath cave | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 21 : About 6350 pilgrims today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas despite cloudy weather and intermittent rains. About 5.65 lakh pilgrims had darshan of the self-made ice- Shivalingam since the commencement of the pilgrimage on June 25. The number of yatris going to Holy Cave from base camps daily remained more than 10000 since June 25. A Met department spokesman said here today that the sky will remain cloudy on both Baltal and Pahalgam tracks and there could be rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours. They yatra official said about 2204 pilgrims, including women, children and sadhus left Baltal for holy cave since 0500 hrs this morning. He said 3143 yatris, including women, children and sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route. He said those yatris who had night halt at different halting stations enroute also started their onward journey this morning while those who had darshan also started their return journey. Majority of those who had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivalingam have returned to their homes. The pilgrimage was going on smoothly from both sides, he said. |
