Bhalla lays foundation stone of alternate MH-Belicharana link road

JAMMU, July 21: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of 6-kilometer long double lane alternate road from Military Hospital (MH) to Nikki Tawi via Belicharana.
The link road would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 13 crore within 18 months by Roads and Buildings Department.
District Development Commissioner, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer R&B Mr. Tahseen Mustafa, Superintending Engineer, R&B Mr. P L Bhushan, Executive Engineer Mr. Rampaul besides senior officers of Revenue Department were present on the occasion.
Addressing a large gathering, Bhalla said that the road would also be connected with fourth-bridge being constructed on Nikki Tawi at an estimated cost of Rs. 147 crore. He said on the completion of the project, the journey to Bhagwati Nagar, Talab Tiloo, canal and Akhnoor areas would be reduced to a large extent.
The Minister said that the Belicharana village is all set to come in focus as a new tourist spot with the upcoming Rs 110 crore artificial lake with an approximate length of 1450 m and 600 m width on Nikki Tawi.
He said the work on the project is under progress on war-footing and would be completed within stipulated time frame. Bhalla exhorted upon the officers to work with utmost efficiency and dedication to ensure timely and quality completion of the project. He said that with the completion of this prestigious project a massive increase in the number of tourists thronging the State is expected to also visit to Belicharana village.
He said that the Centre Government was providing liberal funding to the State which is immensely helping Jammu and Kashmir to achieve new dimensions of progress and prosperity.
The Minister asked the officers to work in a more organized manner so that the purpose of the coalition Government of ensuring better services to the people of every area of the State could be met successfully.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also laid foundation stone for upgradation of lanes and drains with grating facilities of Ajeet Nagar, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 13 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the project within time frame for the benefit of general masses.
