Ex-Cong Minister's brother joins PDP | PDP seeks peoples support to intensify war against corruption | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 21: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today sought cooperation and support of the people to intensify war against corruption. Party supported the agitation already launched by social activist Anna Hazare for the Lok Pal.Addressing a function to welcome large number of people who joined PDP under the leadership of Arun Sawhney, brother of Congress leader and former Minister Yogesh Sawhney the vice president of PDP Sardar Trilok Singh Bajwa said that PDP is committed to provide a corruption free administration to the people of the State. He reminded that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of the State had set up Accountability Commission, which was similar to the Lok Pal, as demanded by Anna Hazare. He, however, regretted that present government headed by Omar Abdullah has undermined the anti-graft institution like State Accountability Commission. He asked the people to support PDP to set up a system of transparency and accountability in the state.Pointing towards failure of the present regime, he said that people of the State have started comparing performance of the present dispensation with the previous PDP-Congress coalition regime because woes of the common masses have been mounting due to wrong policies being adopted by the National Conference led government. He reminded that previous regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has not only carved out a path of equitable development but also empowered all regions and sub-regions of the State. Pointing towards joining of large number of people in the party today, Singh said that people have realised that only PDP can solve their problem. Among prominent present on the occasion, Ex MLC Ved Mahajan, Ex Gen Secy Daman Bhasin, Ch Hussain Ali Wafa, Narinder Singh Raina, Ch Chuni Lal, Parvesh Bali, H S Sodhi and others addressed the function. |
