2108 pilgrims leave for Amarnath, Buddha Amarnath shrines

JAMMU, July 21: Two separate batches of 1493 and 615 pilgrims today left for the holy cave shrines of Shri Amarnath and Buddha Amarnath situated in South Kashmir of Himalayas and Poonch district of Jammu region under tight security arrangements. The pilgrims for Amarnath Cave shrine this morning left from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp here. "A batch of 1493 pilgrims comprising 885 males, 291 females and 27 children and 290 sadhus this morning at around 0515 hours left for the Amarnath in a convoy of 48 vehicles including 31 SRTC buses, two private and 15 Light Motor Vehicles," official spokesman here said. Meanwhile, 615 pilgrims for Buddha Amarnath comprising 308 male, 258 females and 49 children also left the base camp this morning in a convoy of 15 vehicles including 13 SRTC and two LMVs for Poonch to pay the obeisance
