Omar makes mockery of Jammu's suffering | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 22: Chief minister Omar Abdullah virtually makes mockery of suffering and pains of people of Jammu reeling under forced power cuts by saying the Government has supplied more to Jammu this year in comparison to last year. "My Government has supplied more power to Jammu ……but the degree of satisfaction among consumers doesn't appear to correlate with the enhancement made in power supply," said Omar. It's like rubbing salt on the wounds. The Jammu city is probably facing worst power crisis in recent years. Even if the load has increased it would have been gradual and in the knowledge of the department. However, the cuts witnessed this year in comparison to last year shows that if that as if load has jumped in a period of one year to an extent that the system has crippled down. The fact is that restructuring power system was not in the priority of the government as there is not much need for power in Kashmir during summers, where weather is pleasant and the entire State administration is shifted there. However, had Kashmir been suffering the way people here are sufferings, the entire administration would have been put in gear to restore the system, Chief Minister would have first made appeal to the Centre to provide more power and then would have personally gone to New Delhi to convince the Centre on this account. But since this is not the case and it's Jammu that is suffering so the CM doesn't feel the need for so. Despite suffering from power cuts it's only in Jammu that people have volunteered to get their load revised as a result 60-KV load has been revised which could help the administration in upgrading the system. But in Kashmir the scheme of voluntary disclosure of load has just not clicked and people there have insulted and attacked officials of the department who had gone for checking the load. It shows not just contempt for system there but also the aggressive attitude in mending rule to their favour. It's because of the patronage enjoyed by State administration that Valley receives 55 percent of the total power of the State. CM must believe and show in his deeds that is he head of the three regions and not just one region, which be believes so and which could have serious political repercussions. |
