Delhi type police control rooms to be set up in Srinagar and Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: Men of Jammu and Kashmir police are being imparted training in handling and running police conrol rooms in the state with the latest gadgets and machines. According to police officials,the training is part of the union Home Ministry's programme of building police control rooms all over the country on the lines of the rooms in Delhi. The officials said that for building control rooms on modern lines a nd especially on the Delhi pattern did not depend only on the machines and equipments but on the hands that run the machines.They said that since Delhi police have one of the best managed control room police officials from Jammu and Kashmir have been sent for receiving training so that on their r eturn to Sri nagar and Jammu they were able to set up police control room on the pattern one finds in Delhi. In reply to a question a senior police officer said that the beauty in Delhi police control rooms lay in the Automatic Call Distribution System (ACDS) that is being used in these rooms. Explaining the system the officer said that it is giant intercom which is also in use at Business Processing outsourcing offices (BPOs) which has the capacit y of receiving infinite flow of call traffic on a single line which can be routed to one operator after the other. He said that the syst em is so effect ive and sophisticatd hat 50 operators stationed in the police control Room can receive and attend to 40,000 calls per day. Though the main Police Control Rooms in Srinagar and Jammu may not need 50 operators at a time still the new system can help people get connected to the PCRs easily."We want to have a hassle-free interaction with thos who need immediate policee help,"said he officer and added that the new system may leave no room for criticism by those who fail to get connected fast with the PCRs. |
