JKVM condemns 'police harassment' to pilgrims

Jammu, July 23: Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) has condemned the act of terrorizing of Amar Nath pilgrims by the police personnel who instead are deployed to ensure security and smooth conduct of to the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.Reacting on the news report published in print media, Hira Lal Bhat National General Secretary JKVM and executive member Amar Nath Yatra Sangrash Samiti criticized the Government who heads the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and demanded immediate action against the cops and in charge Police Post Heerpur who not only abused the pilgrims but also violated their religious sentiment. "The harassment caused to the Yatri's by forcing them to change the route, demanding graft and threatening them to remove the religious flag and Photo of Lord Shiva is not only a crime but also is a slap on the secular character of J&K State, he added.Bhat warned that such type of communal and criminal acts can add fuel to fire when the state is passing through strife.
