Five Police Stations in Jammu goes headless | 'Acting DGP Rajendra alleged for rolling back 8 Insp of armed wing' | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, July 23: Five police stations imminently headless when the police officials manning the affairs of these stations were among unlucky 'eight' official count who recalled to their parent postings in Armed wing of police, highly placed sources said. Police said that eight cops posted in executive wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been directed to merge with their parental wing i.e. Armed wing of police. Earlier, their services were sought in executive wing owing to the shortage of the officials to handle the law and order maintenance. Sources said that order was issued by officiating Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra, just an hour before handing over the baton of Director General of Police to incumbent Ashok Prasad who assumed the charge here in summer capital this afternoon. The post of DGP fell vacant after superannuation of Kuldeep Khoda in May this year and K Rajendra took the seat as officiating DGP, till today, sources said. Informed sources within police said that the order was issued keeping in view the shortage of manpower in armed wing. "The eight Inspector rank cops had been working in executive wing, mostly at the post of Station Police Officers in different districts of Jammu region, they said. However, eyebrows started raising after the order was made effective as some section of police personnel termed it partial on the plea that bulk of the police personnel, estimated 20, of Armed wing posted in Eexecutive wing in Srinagar were not touched. "How odd count of eight cops can cope up with the shortage in armed wing?" a senior police officer privileging anonymity said, adding pick and choose policy displayed in this order. At the same time, numerous attempts were made to contact to ADG Law and Order K Rajendra, but he was not available for comment. Meanwhile, four police stations of Jammu district and one in Udhampur have become headless after the order of rolling back came to fore and among those who have been directed to roll back included Sunil Singh Jasrotia presently SHO PS Trikuta Nagar, Jasbir Slathia SHO PS Jajjar Kotli, Sukhbir Singh SHO PS Miran Sahib, Abdul Rehman SHO PS Peermitha, Vishal Sharma SHO PS Ramnagar, Raguveer Singh posted in district Kathua and Anita Katal posted in Special Operation Group, Jammu. Pertinently Police Station Nowabad is also going to be headless after elevation of Inspector Sagar. Sources further said that concerned SSPs, especially SSP Jammu has started preparing list of Inspectors to be posted as SHO’s in the imminent headless police stations. |
