| Absconder held with 5.5 kgs of poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 24 : Ramban Police today achieved a success by arresting an absconder, who was evading his arrest for the last 3 years, during naka checking at Shan Palace, Ramban. 5.5 Kgs of poppy straw was also recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Liaqat Ali Katoch son of Ab. Rehman Katoch of Parnot, Ramban. Reports said that on a specific information regarding transportation of poppy straw, a naka was established on the NHW near Shan Palace, Ramban under the close supervision of SP Ramban, Anil Magotra. Today morning, when naka party was busy in checking of vehicles, one person who was travelling in a passenger vehicle which was on way from Srinagar to Jammu, on seeing the naka, boarded off the vehicle alongwith a bag and started hiding himself from the naka party. Smelling something foul and watching suspicious movements of the person, naka party immediately swung into action and caught the person. Later on the person was identified as Liaqat Ali wanted in case FIR no. 99 of 2009 u/s 377 RPC. He was evading his arrest for the last 3years and warrant u/s 512 Cr PC was issued by the Court against the accused. During his checking, 5.5 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from his possession. Police arrested the accused along with 5.5 Kgs of poppy straw. In this connection a case FIR no. 112/2012 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation into the case was in progress. |
