More than 2850 Yatris leave for holy cave ; 5.86 lakh have darshan | | | Early Times Report srinagar , July 24 : Lowest number of 2,868 pilgrims today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. About 5.86 lakh pilgrims had already had darshan of the self-made ice- Shivlingam since the commencement of the pilgrimage on June 25. A yatra official said 1219 pilgrims, including women, children and sadhus left, Baltal for the holy cave at 0500 hrs. He said 1649 yatris, including women, children and sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route. This was lowest number of pilgrims leaving base camp for the holy Cave shrine since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage on June 25. The number was more than 10,000 daily in the past. He said those yatris who had night halt at different halting stations en route also started their onward journey this morning while those who had had darshan also started their return journey. Majority of those who had had darshan of the shrine.have returned to their homes. |
