| No politics over fake killings, please: Mirwaiz | | | Srinagar | Feb 4 Vindicating the stand taken by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammed Yasin Malik, Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today called upon the people to take to streets in protest against the fake killings of innocent civilians. Mirwaiz also called for an impartial probe that should include representatives of Kashmiri intelligentsia, including Hurriyat leaders. The APHC Chief, however, supported the ongoing peace process and said that demilitarization and opening of borders could be the first step in breaking the deadlock in the resolution of Kashmir issue. Stating that he met militant leaders, inside as well as outside the United Jihad Council (UJC) during his Pakistan visit, Mirwaiz said the he impressed upon these leaders to announce a time bound, conditional and unilateral ceasefire. Terming the fake encounters a 'national tragedy', Mirwaiz said, "There should be no politics over this issue and we support JKLF Chairman, Mohammed Yasin Malik's call for a state wide strike and protest demonstrations across the state over this issue. We will take this issue to international organizations." Stating that the special powers given to security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were the root cause of human rights excesses in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that demilitarisation of the region was necessary for taking forward the peace process. |
