Girl student commits suicide after alleged gang rape by Principal, others
Kalakote observes protest

Jammu, July 24: A class 10th girl student reportedly consumed some poisonous substance after she was allegedly gang raped by three persons including a principal of private school in Kalakote of Rajouri district. Meanwhile, the Kalakote observed a shutdown in protest and protestors demanded early action against culprits.
Well informed sources said that the girl Aarti (name changed) student of class 10th was asked to report her Principal. "Her classmate identified as Shamban led her to principal's office. When Aarti entered into the office chamber of principal, the accused already waiting for her entrance allegedly shut the door, sources said
Sources further said, "The alleged accused identified as Zafar Iqbal s/o Abdul Rehman, his son Mohd Waseem and their relative Mohd Iqbal gang raped her.' The shattered victim reportedly left for home where she allegedly consumed some poisonous substance, sources said.
They added the victim was referred to the GMC hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead. Following the news of her death, the people of Kalakote particularly from particular community took to the street and held protest demonstration demanding early arrest of the accused after lodging FIR against them. Sources, however, revealed that Kalakote Police has registered a case under Sections 363,306,309 and 376 RPC in this regard and has started manhunt for the alleged absconding accused.
Meanwhile, sources added that protestors blocked Rajouri-Kalakote road and senior police and Revenue officials including SDM Kalakote Rajinder Khajuria, SDPO Pardeep Khajuria and others rushed to spot and pacified the protestors for early action in this regard. "It was the assurance from senior police officials that the protestors lifted the blockades, sources said.
DIG Rajouri MK Sinha when contacted said that a case in this connection has been registered with the Kalakaote Police Station after allegation by people. He however said that the postmortem report of the victim was awaited for further investigation.
