AJKKU demands sops for 'suffering' farmers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 25: All J&K Kissan Union (AJKKU), a social voluntary organization dedicated to the cause of farming community has initiated the task of making the farmers of J&K aware of their rights and other issue related to farming. It is reaching to them to gather their view point and to share their pain and agony. In a press statement issued here today, AJKKU said that it is demanding six months free ration, timely free seeds, free fertilizers for kharief crop and free power supply for six months. In support of the demands, AJKKU held dharnas on block levels from April 9 and were continuously sending to the State Government memorandum of demands through local authorities. While concluding first phase of struggle on July 14, AJKKU after holding protest-Dharna in support of its various demands, submitted a memorandum once again for the consideration of the Governor, the Chief Minister, Ministers for Agriculture, Revenue and Relief and Irrigation and the Chief Secretary. AJKKU hoped that the demands of the farmers will be looked into and redressed in a week's time and in case grievances are not addressed within the said period, the Union will be forced to launch second phase of the protest. |
