CB registers case against accused involved in supply of sub-standard cement

Jammu July 25: Crime Branch, Jammu, has claimed to have busted a racket involved in sale/supply of sub-standard / spurious cement as branded cement and registered a case against Sabar Singh, Khem Raj and others of Purmandal Road, Birpur, Bari Brahmana under the name and Style of Lakshmi Traders for their involvement in cheating and fraudulent practices.
Official spokesperson stated that Crime Branch unearthed a racket involved in sale of sub-standard / spurious cement as branded cement busted by Crime Branch, Jammu and registered a case under FIR No.18/2012 u/s 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 482, 486, 487, 120-B RPC in P/S Crime Branch Jammu against Sabar Singh, Khem Raj and others of Purmandal Road, Birpur, Bari Brahmana under the name and Style of Lakshmi Traders who have been indulging in cheating and fraudulent practices. "Following information from a reliable sources, that one Sabar Singh, Khem Raj and others under the name and style of Lakshmi Traders at Purmandal Road, Birpur are indulged in fraudulent practices by procuring sub-standard cement from local factories of Kathua and Jammu and thereafter packing the same in bags of Ambuja/ ACC cement and selling the same in open market as branded cement," spokesperson said. "The information also said that one truck bearing No. JK02V-9297 loaded such cement refilled in Ambuja/ACC cement bags as branded cement was about to leave the premises for District Poonch, spokesperson said and added, "acting swiftly, a formal case was registered in P/S Crime Branch, Jammu and a raid was conducted by the Crime Branch, Jammu at the spot.
Crime branch sleuths recovered two trucks carrying 660 bags of cement have been seized and one of the proprietors namely Khem Raj has been taken into custody for sustained interrogation. Besides, two truck drivers and two workers have also been detained for questioning. The business establishments at Birpur and Barnai Road Bantalab belonging to the accused have been sealed in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class while Investigation of the case is in progress.
