As GMC fails to do honours students go angry | Honour boards used as notice boards! | | early times report Jammu, July 25 : The Jammu Medical College, it seems, has abandoned the practice of glorifying toppers. Shockingly since 2005 not a single name has been added to the honour boards of the college that hand outside the office of the Principal. Since 2000 not a single name of the Best graduate has been pasted on the honour board. At present 29 names of toppers starting from 1979 batch till 2000-2005 batch have been pasted on the honour board. However, during the past one decade the college has failed to do the honour. The apathy rather lethargy of the authorities is being debated by students and visitors to the college. Ironically, the hospital administration has pasted publicity material on one of the honour boards. "It was blank and the hospital authorities thought it proper to utilize the space for public welfare!", said a student. Juniors seem worried as well. "An institution is known by the alumni. We do not know the names of the best graduates of this college", said a junior. Surprisingly, the college is awake to ensure proper display of names of faculty members. The students said when senior faculty member takes over the charge as head of the department next day we see their fresh name plates hanging outside their departments The students also wanted to know is it a costly proposition to put up a new honour board where names of recent toppers could also be accommodated. The students said, "Whatever interaction we have with our seniors is personnel and on the rapport of our seniors otherwise there is very little effort on the part of the college authorities to hold regular events or provide platforms to students to share their experiences and improve their relations by bonding with their seniors".
