A senior Professor remote controlling investigation to settle personal score? | University Works Deptt Scam | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 25: While Vice Chancellor Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar and his newly appointed OSD Jai Kumar are being showered accolades for unearthing the scam in the University Works Department and handing over the case of release of funds for un-executed works in The Business School to the State Vigilance Organisation and eventually putting the accused under suspension, there is more to the entire saga than what meets the eye. If the University grape wine is to be believed, Jai Kumar, who won the trust and confidence of the Vice Chancellor during the entire episode, was taking commands from his old friend Prof. Keshav Sharma, the former Director of The Business School who shall be returning to the University after a three years stint with a Chandigarh based private institution next week and had an old score to settle with one of the accused in the recent scam. Insiders divulge that the name of Akash Bhola, Assistant Engineer in the University Works Department was included in the list of accused at a later stage of investigations at the behest of Prof. Keshav Sharma as Executive Engineer Suresh Sharma who was suspended on an earlier occasion during construction of Zorawar Singh auditorium for executing sub standard work by the then VC Prof. Amitabh Mattoo was the lone accused in the earlier stages of investigation. "Keshav used his friend Jai Kumar to make Akash a co-accused along with the Junior Engineer who was posted in the University Works Department on deputation as he had complained to Prof. Mattoo that the former had been using unparliamentarily language against him and a senior professor," said a retired professor of the University. "Akash had put Keshav in deep hole as Prof. Mattoo had even asked Keshav to vacate his official residence in the residential complex of the JU within 48 hours" he added reiterating, "Keshav remote controlled the entire thing through his friend Jai Kumar to get Akash Bhola fixed". Meanwhile, the proceedings of the case confirm the allegations of the retired Professor as a closer look into the sequence of events make it amply clear that the name of Akash Bhola did not figure in the reported scam initially and was added at a later stage. |
