7/26/2012 10:20:38 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 26 : The cross LoC traders have decided to boycott trade between two parts of the divided Kashmir to protest alleged interference of the customs authorities in the trading process. “We have decided to boycott trade from July 31 as the custom authorities are needlessly interfering in smooth conduct of the trade by creating impediments”, Hilal Truki, General Secretary of the Salamabad-Chakoti traders union said. He said the customs authorities are also creating hurdles in trading commodities like meswaq and dates on the auspicious occasion of Ramadan. “They had no issued with these items for last 11 months”, he added. The traders have asked the Union Home Minister to replace the customs officials by officials of some other department. “Unless the customs people are replaced, we will not resume trade”, Turki added.
