| Declare J&K as drought prone, demands PDP Kissan Cell | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 26: Demanding that the J&K as a whole be declared as drought prone, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Kissan Cell said today that due to failure of monsoon in the early months of June and July the state is under severe condition of drought adding that only 25% of the Kharif crops can be raised. Addressing a press conference here today, State President PDP Kissan Cell Satpal Singh Singh Charak emphasized upon provision of proper irrigation facilities at tail ends of the Ranbir canal and Ravi Tawi lift irrigation canals. He said that the supply of power is also worst, the curtailment is up to 14 hrs and the voltage is also very low due to which pump sets are unable to function properly. We also demanded that electricity be supplied regularly for 12 hrs on Punjab pattern. |
