Corrupt in chair or outside Government has made mockery of system: Vakil | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 27: A large number of party workers and social activists called upon former minister and AICC member Abdul Gani Vakil at his residence Tulsibagh Srinagar today and extended their support to him in his battle against corruption.While talking to them Vakil said corrupt in the government, or outside the government have made a mockery of the system by seeking stay against SAC orders and by stalling the wheel of justice. The institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) and State Vigilance Commission (SVC) have been rendered defunct by getting orders stayed through different courts, he said and urged Government to get those stays vacated. He said that revelations by RTI activists have brought to the foreground alarming irregularities in various departments and our government was sitting like a lame duck. Vakil assured the workers who called upon him that he will not rest till those out there looting tax payers' money are brought to books and he will keep raising his voice against corruption and not let the system to collapse. He urged the government to strengthen SAC by giving it an independent investigating agency and also appoint Commissioner SVC immediately. Any further delay, he said tantamount to government's inability to fight corruption. Referring to recent statement of Rahul Gandhi, MP and AICC General Secretary of playing a bigger role in the country in days to come, Vakil said that this is the need of hour. Rahul Gandhi himself had resolved to fight corruption and being a young and dynamic leader he can take a lead from the front in his resolve.Abdul Ahad Yatoo General Secretary J&K PCC, Altaf Ahmad Malik Youth Congress Assembly President Rafiabad, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad Youth Congress Assembly President Sangrama, Ghulam Ahmad Lone, Executive member J&K PCC also spoke on the occasion. |
