JKFA forgets domestic calendar, hosts big matches | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 27: Busy hosting big teams for exhibition matches, the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) has forgot about the domestic calendar of activities thus opening ignoring the talent at the grass root level. Well, the autonomous sports body of State Sports Council too has joined the Association in hosting friendly games by extending every possible help, including funds, at the expense of activities at the district level. Alright, if the Association is taking initiative to provide the talented stuff of the state need exposure of playing against the likes of Mohammedan Sporting and Mohan Bagan, still such experimentation should not be there at the cost of domestic activities. Paying more attention towards the game in Kashmir Province, the JKFA has already started junior and senior division leagues championships there bothering little about Jammu. In Jammu Province, the finals of sub-junior, junior and senior league championships, conducted in 2010 are still pending. Furthermore, there was no league competition in the Winter Capital last year. As the past practice is, the league competitions are held in July-August, but this time nothing has been planned so far by the JKFA. Believe it or note, but it is a hard fact that the Association has not been able to hold the important state championship for the last two years. "We are facing acute shortage of funds in the hands of State Sports Council. It was due to the non-allocation funds that the Association has not been able to conduct the league and state championships," resident secretary of the JKFA, Surinder Singh Bunty told . |
