Jammu, July 27: The workers of the Dogra Front and Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thakrey took out a procession from Jewel Chowk to Canal Road , Chief Engineer office of Electricity and maintenance and burnt the refrigerator due to non availability of the electricity and gheraoed the office for 3 hours against 16 hours cut in Jammu city and 22 hours cut in rural areas.456 transformers are damaged in Jammu province , which is also one of the major reasons for curtailment of electricity and the companies which repairs the transformers are yet to receive their balance worth Rs. 18 crore due to which the repairing process is at halt which is leading to curtailment of electricity.
While Addressing the gathering Ashok Gupta said that enhancement of 32 lacs unit electricity announced by the Government and even purchase of additional units of electricity for Rs. 200 Crore for state then still why there are continuous cuts in Jammu City and in Rural Areas after getting the enhancement of the electricity
Even after buying electricity for Rs. 200 Crore the amount or electricity is in vain ,until and unless a new transformer worth Rs. 20 Crore is installed in GLADINI power station for the regular and uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Ashok Gupta demanded that when the people of Jammu were paying tariff according to the meters and there is commitment of the Chief Engineer to provide 24 hours light to the people of Jammu why they are not fulfilling their commitment.
Few days back cabinet took a decision of waving of the interest on electricity bills so that people should pay there bills ,so they can get uninterrupted power supply.
The persons those who participated in the protest are Vicku Sharma, Roshan lal, Prem Gandhi, Suresh Chanotra, Dhanatr Singh and Raj singh etc.
