early times report
Jammu, July 27: The protests by Kashmiri migrants continued for second consecutive day at Jagti and in front of Relief Organization against bunglings in allotment of quarters at Jagti. The protestors assembled again at relief organization this morning challenging the allotment of quarters to non deserving people. They reiterated the charges that quarters were allotted to political activists of NC and their kin on the behest of a NC leader. They alleged that one NC lady worker and her two relatives have been allotted the quarters while the genuine people have been ignored.
One Makhan Lal from Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama who is a chronic heart patient and had undergone two surgeries at New Delhi has been ignored while relief organization claims that people suffering from life consuming diseases have been given preference.
Makhan Lal said that he has approached everyone in administration and also submitted an application to Divisional Commisioner Jammu and concerned minister but to no avail.
He while challenging the list said only people upto 172 serial have valley address in the list while in case of others it is missing.
This shows the double standards of the authorities who were not fair in making allotments, he added.
Ramesh Kumar another migrant said that how 109 migrants were shown as were occupying police quarters when as per the report submitted by estates officer, police that their number was 58 families only. This shows that total irregularities have taken place while framing the list, he added.
Meanwhile, the protests continued at Jagti also for second consecutive day with 200 odd non camp migrants including men and women at Dharna at Jagti since yesterday. They have warned to forcibly occupy quarters while others have decided to get the allotment stayed in court of law.
Meanwhile, the relief commissioner has gone on 3days leave and this has been strongly objected by the Migrants saying that they have been given 3 days time to file objections while the relief commissioner himself is out of state.
"They said we don't know that whom to approach with objections".
