Arrangements for Sankri Mela discussed

UDHAMPUR, July 27: Arrangements for smooth conduct of 3-day historic Sankri Devta mela starting from August 14 in village Meer of Block Panchari in district Udhampur were discussed here in detail under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ram Rattan Sharma. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, S.S Sambyal, Joint Director P&S, Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Medical Officer, Anil Amla, Tehsildar Settlement, Sanjeev Goswami, District heads of various departments, Chairman Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine Moungri, Advocate Swatantar Dev Kotwal, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, District Udhampur, Sardari Lal Dubey, Social Activist, Narin der Sharma and Local Mela Committee members attended the meeting.During the meeting, arrangements like security, sanitation, medicare, drinking water and power supply and transportation were discussed. It was decided that District Police would deploy adequate security personnel during mela days while ARTO would deploy sufficient number of buses from different locations whereas Health Department would ensure sufficient arrangements of medicare with stand by ambulance arrangements. Tehsildar Settlement, Udhampur has been appointed as Mela Officer who would keep a strict vigil on the checking of rates and quality of eatables in coordination with officers of departments concerned besides supervising all arrangements of the mela. For the awareness of people about various government sponsored schemes different government departments would setup their stalls. During the first day of mela, the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in coordination with local mela committee would arrange a wrestling competition as per past practice.Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC exhorted upon the officers to put in their coordinated efforts for smooth conduct of the mela. Sharma urged the local mela committee members to come forward in making the mela a grand success as public participation is of great importance in promoting tourism and economy of the area.
