Jagti allotment could cost RK Pandita his job | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 27: Fifty eight migrants putting up in police family quarters but 109 quarters were allotted at Jagti township. It is one of the serious allegations levelled a the process of the allotment of two-room tenements. The allegations speaks unfair means adopted in allotment process which by such manipulations by officials at the helm of affairs has rendered the entire process useless and calls for thorough probe to start the process of allotment a fresh. The flats were constructed as a gesture to apply balms on the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits, especially to those who have been languishing in rented accommodation for more than two-decades with meagre financial resources. Another important allegations against the process is that genuine migrant families with no other financial income except relief were dropped. This is serious allegations and needs to be addressed at the earliest before things go away wrong, as has been indicated by protesting KPs that they would forcibly occupy the quarters. The Relief Commissioner RK Pandita while rejecting the allegations has failed to give credible answer on the process of the allotment. It was imperative of the Relief Commissioner to state factually the financial position of the allottee, years of their putting up in migrant camps or rented accommodation and their need which fulfilled this criteria of allotment. But this was not done and even two-day after protest no such statement has come. It smacks of the fact that process has been anything but fair and impartial. The Relief Commissioner, holding an important position, which in a sense is also aimed to do humanitarian service than just administrative job, has completely failed on both the accounts. The allegations that he succumbed to some elite with political backing points also has an underlining that he himself allowed to be manipulated and used for his own personal material benefits. This fact can't ignored as property is a prime factor in today's world and anyone having any hand in dealing with is bound to succumb to material gains especially the one who with administrative order can make allotment. Anger is palpable and time is not a commodity on which Relief Commissioner can bank on for longer period. It's not only his job but becomes more imperative of him to take the corrective measure, before the threat of occupying flats becomes a reality- an eventuality which could cost him his chair of which he has enjoyed benefits. |
