As Antony stole the show, Kamaal remained mum | Banidpora killing | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 27: National Conference additional general secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamaal has maintained `meaningful' silence over death of a Bandipora youth. Kamaal, who is known for issuing controversial statements surprisingly remained mum over the incident. How did he miss a chance of Delhi and Army bashing? During his tenure as spokesperson of National Conference, Kamaal issued a series of `controversial' statements. He challenged totality of accession, accused New Delhi of treating Jammu Kashmir as a colony, castigated the Congress party and lashed out at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). A stunned Dr Farooq had to relieve him of the responsibility. Kamaal accused New Delhi of hurling grenades in Kashmir. He did not spare the Army as well. And last but not the least; he accused New Delhi of cheating Sher-e-Kashmir. "The 1975 Accord was not signed", he claimed. It was Defence Minister, Antony's timely and sensible statement that kept politicians with jaundiced vision out of the issue. He rejected his Lt General's statement and issued a probe into the killing. He ordered strict punishments for the guilty. This has happened for the first time. The local politicians who miss no opportunity to exploit a tragic incident for their petty interests were stunned. Antony stole the show. His prudence affected Kamaal's nerves so adversely that he forgot to mourn the killing of yet another innocent Kashmiri. |
