JU Finance Committee meets, approves various developmental works

JAMMU, July 28: Finance Committee of Jammu University today gave nod to various developmental and promotional activities. This decision was taken in the meeting of the finance committee of University of Jammu held under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. At the outset, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the distinguished members of the Finance Committee. Prof Ishar apprised members about financial scenario of University and requested state government for generous funding so as to take up the developmental aspects of the University as well as the welfare of the University fraternity. Special request was made for enhancement of the allocation of the funds for examination related processes. Subsequently the stock of various National Funding Schemes was undertaken and it was emphasized that all the projects sanctioned should be completed in a time bound manner. Special mention was made of the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan (PMR P) funding of Rs. 56.08 crore for development of various Campuses. Committee recommended that the revised estimates 2011-2012 and budget estimates 2012-2013 pertaining to the University matters and enhancement in the budgetary provisions allocated to the examination wing, creation of new object heads particularly for the office of Dean Research Studies, Publication Cell and Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery, Institute of Mountaineering and Environment at Bhaderwah Campus of University, Kathua Campus etc. were discussed in detail and it was resolved that due consideration to these shall be paid at the time of finalization of revised estimates of the University. Members of the Finance Committee present on the occasion were Mohd. Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary to J&K Government, Department of Finance and Financial Advisor JU, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Govt., Higher Education Department, Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Nominee of the Syndicate, Dr. Bupinder Singh, Nominee of the Syndicate, Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu. Another meeting with regard to pros and cons of the Corpus Fund was also held after the Finance Committee meeting and Committee recommended some changes to be incorporated in the regulations concerning the Corpus Fund as to utilize the same for developmental activities of the University. The Corpus Committee was attended by Prof Rekha Choudhary, Dean Research Studies, Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Nominee of the Syndicate, Dr. Bupinder Singh, Nominee of the Syndicate, Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu, Neeraj Sharma, OSD (Finance).
