NSF demands inquiry against OSD to VC | | | early times report jammu, July 29 : Demanding strict action against Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Vice Chancellor Jammu University, the National Secular Forum (NSF) appealed to the Chancellor to hold an enquiry into tiles fixing scam. Addressing the media persons here on the campus, Sukhdev Singh, Vice-president NSF said that senior officials, who were instrumental in the scam and cleared the bills without checking the veracity of executed work, were being shielded by the varsity administration. NSF leader said that though the Vigilance Organization had registered a case against the engineers who had fraudulently withdrawn over Rs 3 lakh for non-executed work but they spared the 'bosses' who intentionally cleared the bills and let the scam happened. He alleged that the varsity administration had been shielding the officers, particularly Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Vice-Chancellor, Jai Kumar Sharma who had cleared the bills without visiting the work site. He said," Jai Kumar used to put objections on various bills. We need an explanation that how he accorded withdrawal for this project without proper verification." "The varsity officials have made the mockery of the system and it could be well gauged that they allowed the fixing of tiles, against which funds were withdrawn fraudulently, during night hours and that too, the day when the Vigilance had booked three engineers," he said. He appealed the Chancellor to initiate a thorough probe against the officers, including OSD to Vice-Chancellor for exposing contractors-engineers-officers nexus. He warned the NSF activists would launch indefinite agitation on the campus and at tehsil level, if the Vice-Chancellor didn't initiate action against the corrupt officers including his OSD. |
