Intelligence inputs unravel militants' plans to hike violence in J&K | | | early times report jammu, July 29 :Whether the bus blast near Bijbehara in south Kashmir,in which three women tourists were killed and five others wounded, was linked with terrorist activities or not handlers across the LoC have sent a message to the militants, operating in Jammu and Kashmir, directing them to intensify acts of subversive violence. Official sources said that interception of a recent message, sent to the militants in Jammu and Kashmir, has revealed that handlers across the border have directed them to raise the level of violence since the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage was to end within next three days. Sources said that the message has been intercepted by a team of central intelligence agency.Reports said that it was after nearly six months that the militants had received instructions to intensify their activities by targeting security pickets, convoys and posts. According to these sources, militants had been asked, through specific message, that they should neither attack any Amarnath pilgrim nor disrupt the tourist season as that could be exploited by India while accusing Pakistani agncies of fomenting violence and trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. The intercept is specific while urging militants to establish their presence by kicking up major incidents of violence so that the Government and the security agencies did not construe a six-month lull as end of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior police officers apprehend bigger mischief as far as attempts at destabilising peace in the state was concerned. In the context of these reports security agencies have been directed to step up vigil in all the sensitive areas of the state and upgrade the counter insurgency grid in the state in order to prevent militants from disrupting peace in the state. |
