Bhalla inspects progress on Belicharana-Warehouse link road | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has asked the R&B department to expedite the pace of work on the 6-kilometer double lane Belicharana-Warehouse link road to ensure timely completion of the project. The road project involving a cost of Rs. 20 crore also includes construction of two wayside 40-meter span bridges. Inspecting the pace of progress on the 6-kilometer long link road, here today, Bhalla said that with the completion of alternate road, the journey to Asia, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Warehouse, and Jammu University from Bhagwati Nagar via upcoming fourth-bridge being constructed at an estimated of Rs. 147 crore on Niki Tawi, would be reduced to a large extent. He said the alternate road including linked bridges to warehouse-Asia road would be completed within 18 months. Executive Engineer Rampaul besides other officers of R&B and Revenue Departments accompanied the Minister. The Minister asked the wayside residents to remove temporary structures from the alignment of the road from Belicharana to Niki Tawi so that the project could be completed within stipulated time frame. He said without people's cooperation, the project cannot be completed in time. Bhalla said Belicharana area was all set to come in tourism map, adding that Government has earmarked Rs. 110 crore for construction of artificial lake over an approximate length of 1450 m and 600 m width area in Nikki Tawi. He said the work on the project was apace on war-footing and would be completed within prescribed time frame. He said that focused attention was being paid to develop Belicharana area on modern lines. |
