JU throws norms of Examination secrecy to winds | Single officer holding charge of both sections of Professional wing | | early times report Jammu, July 29: The University of Jammu (JU) has thrown all its norms to wind as far secrecy and confidentiality of Examination Wing is concerned. The charge of the crucial Examination and Evaluation sections of Professional Wing have been handed over to a single person hence violation of the established norms of secrecy and confidentiality. According to sources, the Professional wing of Examination having courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, Law under its ambit need to have complete confidentiality and secrecy. For the purpose, its two sections i.e Examination and Evaluation is kept under the charge of two different officers. So that, tampering of any sort if done in one section can be detected in the other section. But, right now the charge of both the sections is held by Deputy Registrar Dharminder Magotra. Now, the officer is at his will to do the things in his own perspective as no one can keep check over him. Sources added that either deliberately or undeliberately, the JU administration has committed the mistake putting the secrecy and confidentiality at stake. In past also due care was taken by the administration in maintaining the confidentiality. Even, in Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and BEd Wings of Examination, the charge of Examination and Evaluation sections were being held by different officers. It is only the Professional Wing where the norms have been thrown to winds.
Sources divulged that Magotra is blue-eyed of Jai Kumar Sharma, who is Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Vice Chancellor. The handing over of the charge of both the sections of Professional Wing to Magotra is being attributed to his proximity with OSD. His name has also been included in several key committees of the University at the instance of OSD. Interestingly, Magotra has been included in Selection Committee; whereas Assistant Registrar Establishment has been excluded which is again a violation of established norms.
Reliably, Registrar Dr Naresh Padha had taken up this matter but was not given ear by the Vice Chancellor.
