| Agents ruling roost at Railway Station, commoners’ suffering | | Top railway officials hand in glove with agents, sharing huge percent of commission | | Dev Raj Singh Jammu | Feb 4 Commoners’ altogether standing in long queues and waiting for turn to get their railway ticket reserved and agents (Black Marketers) openly auctioning the reserved railway tickets, believe it or not but it’s a routine trait at the reservation counter of Railway Station Jammu. The agents are carrying out this illegal practice on the behest of railway higher ups as they use to share the percentage of commission charged by these agents from the travelers, as per sources. These agents are freely and openly operating in the reservation section under the patronage of Chief Reservation Supervisor (CRS), Railway Station Jammu, as divulged by some highly placed sources of railway department. In lieu of handsome commission, railway officials provide free access to agents inside the railway reservation counters. Sources confirmed that agents use to charge anything between Rs 100- 300 per ticket from the needy travelers and out of this handsome commission indirectly passes to the top railway official through other intermediaries. It is to mention that each agent is allowed with an unofficial quota of at least ten tickets a day. Sources further divulged that the out of the total nine earmarked counters, only five are kept open for the facilitation of tickets to masses and that too for creating unnecessary mess in reservation section so that people could be pushed towards agents. And Furiated over the inability to stand in long queues for obtaining tickets, people prefer to approach these agents and pay them extra commission charges. With the passage of each day, this trade is flourishing leap and bounds. The agents are so capable that they can confirm the waiting tickets within few minutes on the payment of some extra charge (exclusive of commission charged previously) which is impossible without the connivance of railway authorities, as witnessed by a traveler. Meanwhile, all the government agencies working as watch dog over these departments have adopted a criminal silence over the alleged black marketing of tickets at reservation section of Railway Station Jammu despite of having the complete knowledge of this practice which is encouraging the corrupt officials of Railway Department.
