Accept Pak President's invitation: Mufti to Prime Minister | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jul 30 : Urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to accept the invitation of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to visit that country, Peoples’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said New Delhi must respond to change of attitude in Pakistan establishment and Army. New Delhi has also to change its political attitude towards Jammu and Kashmir as unless internal and external dimensions of J&K are addressed effectively 'the sore will continue to fest". Addressing PDP workers on the 13th Foundation Day anniversary at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) ground here, the former Chief Minister said J&K can not be denied its right to decide its own destiny through democratic methods. Sayeed said President Zardari's invite to Prime Minister Singh to visit that country on Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth anniversary reflects change of attitude in Pakistan establishment including army and "our country should respond to this transformation." On this occasion, a resolution was passed by the gathering detailing the party's Self Rule agenda and trust deficit between the people of J&K and rest of the country. On Sayeed's suggestion the gathering amended the resolution to incude its demand for the Prime Minister Dr Singh to resume dialogue at the highest level with his Pakistani counterpart. The PDP patron said it was unfortunate that dialogue process between two countries has been reduced to cosmetic photo sessions without concluding any concrete decisions. Sayeed said though people of J&K do not expect any major breakthrough in the upcoming meeting of heads of the two countries but the process of dialogue which has unfortunately got stalled must start somewhere. "We want them to take J&K specific Confidence Building Measures (CBM) in the upcoming meet between Foreign Ministers' S M Krishna and Hina Rabbani Khar," he demanded. |
