| Kranti Dal demands action against land mafia | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 30: Kranti Dal has strongly condemned the State Government for not taking any action against land mafia active in Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana.
Addressing a press conference here today, Kranti Dal senior leader Rajinder Bhagat and youth leader Vijay Kumar said that land mafia operating in Bari Brahmana area is openly threatening the poor families but police department is doing nothing and has failed to capture the real culprit.
They said two persons namely Mohinder Kour wife of Surinder Singh and Saroop Singh son of Jeet Singh, both from New Plot, Jammu purchased plots at Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana from Mohd Saleem Chowdhary alias Guddu, a JKP jawan, on May 13 2011.
After short period of time, Saleem Chowdhary refused them the ownership rights and recaptured the sold plots.The Kranti Dal leaders alleged that Saleem is threatening the poor purchasers of the land by misusing the police uniform.
They alleged that Chowdhary is a professional land mafia and is active in this field since long and police is supporting him fully, adding that his modus operandi is to first sell plots and later re-capture them after intimidating the purchasers.
Kranti Dal leader Rajinder Bhagat said that the state government should take stern action such police personal and officers who are sheltering him thereby making doubtful the whole department in the eye of general public.
Bhagat alleged that the concerned SHO it seems is not willing to take action against Chowdhary even as IGP, Jammu wrote a letter to him in this regard.
Kranti Dal warned that if action not taken within in 15 days then issue will be raised at higher level for justice. Meanwhile, SHO Bari Brahmana, Arun Jamwal when contacted denied having received any complaint of land grabbing against Saleem Chowdhary. |
