Jammu, July 30: Surfacing of the mysterious tunnel very close to International Border (IB) has not only left the intelligence agencies to eat humble pie but BSF too has faced un expected ordeal as it has failed to come to any conclusion and now has sought help from the army and other technical agencies including Geological and Mining etc.
High placed sources within intelligence agencies said that BSF after facing criticism over the slow pace of work on mysterious under construction tunnel that too with just one JCB machine now is contemplating to shift the case to the further excavation to army and other similar agencies.
Days have passed locals too were eager to something out the digging but all in vain as BSF has failed to come upto their expectations even the seniors BSF officials are shuttling to the spot to take the stock of the situation and above all the DG BSF too has been reported to visit the spot keeping in the view the sensitivity and gravity of the tunnel found near International Border.
If the sources are to be believed only one defunct JCB machine has been deployed by BSF for digging purpose. Irked over the working on this sensitive issue by the BSF, the sources said, "After every two hours of work the JCB machine required repair."
Local also are getting fumigated over the slow pace of work on national security issue while a top cadre team of BSF that reached to Samba today however disclosed that they may hand over the case to the some experts agencies including army. The reports was confirmed by SSP Samba Israr Khan who when contacted admitted deployment of one JCB machine for most sensitive issue. Meanwhile, BSF spokesman when contacted refused to any comment over the matter.
Sources further allegedly lamented the slow pace of work, will perhaps given a lot of time to the miscreants or even ultras to take back their equipment or the ammunition if they had brought it to check the feasibility of the half finished tunnel. Besides, IGP Jammu, IG BSF,DIG BSF and SSP SambaI none other officer from army or any other intelligence agency reached on the spot for having a access, sources further revealed.
Pertinently, the detection of tunnel was made when the Border Security Force (BSF) men after its patrolling party stumbled upon 25-feet deep 'camouflaged pit' along the Line of Control in Samba sector on Saturday last. The place is located close to the Indian forward post Chilyari in village Chechwal, the Border Security Force (BSF), which is deployed as the first defence line along the IB.
Pressing panic buttons, the BSF deployed JCB machines to dig deep into the earth on Saturday morning. After digging around 25 feet below the earth, the BSF personnel stumbled upon large pipes, Toshiba batteries and other material inside the tunnel.
For inept this is not the first incident when the BSF/Security forces have stumbled over a mysterious tube earlier in 2009 a similar tunnel was discovered by security forces in Pallanwalla Akhnoor.
