| General J.J Singh delivers H.L Gupta memorial lecture | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , July 31: The H.L. Gupta memorial lecture for the year 2012 was delivered today at Model Institute of Education and Research by General J.J Singh, His Excellency the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and former Chief of the Army Staff on "Leadership for Modern India"
Lt. Gen. K.T Parnaik the General Officer Commanding in Chief, HQ Northern Command and Prof. M.P.S Isher, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu were the guests of honour for the memorial lecture. Other eminent personalities present on the occasion were Mrs. Anupama Singh.
The first lady of Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Arun Gupta, Chairman MIER group of Institutions, Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER, a host of serving and former army officers, high officials of the government, members of the academia and civil society, management, faculty and students of MIER.
Dr Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries. He introduced Gen. Singh as a third generation soldier who rose to become the 22nd Chief of the Indian Army. After the Lecture the book release function was held. Firstly, Sqn Ldr Rakesh Punia, ADC to the Governor gave an introduction to the book " A Soldier's General" -An Autobiography of Gen. J.J singh. Two students of Model Academy, Sheena Bhat and Ajmal Farooq then read some interesting excerpts from the book. A small documentary highlighting the life and achievements of Gen Singh was also shown to the audience.
The book was formally released by Lt Gen K.T Parnaik, GOC-in-C of Northern Command and Hony Capt Joginder Singh father of Late Lt. Navdeep Singh, Ashok Chakra, Maratha Light Infantry. Gen. J.J Singh commented upon his autobiographical venture after the release of the book and acquainted the audience about the purpose behind writing this book.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER presented a vote of thanks to all the distinguished guests for having graced the occasion. |
