Four Jordanians arrested with gold jewelry worth Rs 2.4 lakh in Kathua

kathua, July 31: Kathua police have arrested four Jordan nationals alongwith stolen gold jewelry worth lakhs today, police spokesman here said.
''Four Jordan nationals were arrested today alongwith stolen ornaments worth Rs 2,40,000 from Kalibari area of district Kathua while trying to give a slip to police,'' the spokesman here told. He said that the accused had stolen the ornaments last night from a jewellery shop at Kathua.
"The arrested Jordan nationals were identified as Muna, Ramadan Rashid Saleh (K -596982), Ahmed Ramadan Rashid Saleh (K-042613), Naimeh Ramadan Rashid Saleh (K-042525) and Khaled Ramadan Rashid Saleh (K-341456), police said.
Police said that one Deepak Parkash, resident of W-17, district Kathua lodged a written complaint at a police station yesterday at about 1730 hrs that three foreign Jordon nationals (one male and two females) visited his shop and asked him to show some gold ornaments for the purchase.
"The accused selected one gold pendant and offered to pay in Jordan currency, to which the complainant refused to accept and demanded payment in Indian currency, police spokesperson said adding, " the visitors, meanwhile, left the shop assuring the complainant to be paid in Indian currency,'' Police added after their departure from the shop the complainant found gold coin weighing around six grams went missing, which according to complainant was stolen from the shop and thus he reported the matter to police." "Taking cognizance in this regard a case under FIR number 289/2012 under section 380/34 of RPC was registered and messages were flashed at all the check posts. The police team and naka at Kalibari area intercepted the vehicle Innova in which they were travelling in.' The accused were taken under custody and during their personal search, gold ornaments weighting about 80.380 grams worth Rs 2,40,000 were recovered from their possession, police spokesperson said.
