Sessions Court awarde 7 yrs RI to two rape accused

KISHTWAR, July 31: Principal District and Sessions Judge Kishtwar M L Manhas today awarded 7 years rigorous imprisonment to two teenagers, both students of 12th class on charges of raping two girls including a 7th class student.
According to Public Prosecutor R K Goswami, Kishtwar police on the basis of complaint lodged at Police station Kishtwar by one girl (whose name has been kept secret) of Noor Bounzwah, came along with his uncle to police station Kishtwar and stated that she along with another girl, a student of class 7th of Middle Schoo, Noor had gone to attend the marriage ceremony of one Tazeem Ahmed son of Ghulam Rasool Kharwani resident of Noor Bounzwah under the jurisdiction of police station Kishtwar on August 8, 2010. Prosecution said that during the evening hours, both the girls went to attend the call of nature in the nearby maize field, where the accused persons namely Tariq Hussain Beedi (21 yrs) son of Mohammad Sharief Beedi and Mansoor Ahmed Kharwani (19 yrs) son of Mehraj-ud-din Kharwani both resident of Noor Bounzwah followed the girls and in a well knitted conspiracy overpowered the girls and finally raped both of them in the lonely nearby maize field, where nobody could come to the rescue of the minor girls though they had raised hue and cry.
Kishtwar police after registering the case FIR No. 157/2010 U/S 376/34 RPC and took up the investigation of the case and during the course of the investigation, Kishtwar police produce the challan in the court of Principal District and Session Judge Kishtwar who after listening the arguments from the defense council M H Waza and public prosecutor R.K Goswami with I.A Hamal, advocate for prosecution found both the accused as guilty for committing the rape and convicted both the accused to undergo 7 years rigorous imprisonment, beside a fine of of Rs 1000 each was also imposed on the two convicts. In case the convicts fail to deposit the fine, both will have to undergo six months further imprisonment.
Sessions Judge in his remarks termed the rape as most heinous crime and while quoting various judgments issued by the courts from time to time announced the sentence in which both Tariq Hussain and Mansoor Ahmed have been found guilty of committing the rape.
Meanwhile the family members of both the accused termed the punishment as harsh and said that they will go for the appeal in High Court.
