| Top functionaries deliberately ‘ignore local leader in rally | | ‘Free for all situations in J&K PYC ‘……..? | | ET Report
Jammu, July 31: It is a ‘free for all situation’ in Pradesh Youth Congress in which the senior functionaries are virtually functioning in two parallel units and carrying out organizational activities separately , without informing each other . Such is the situation with the newly elected body of the Congress in the State that its president goes overboard in convening the political rallies in which local party leaders, legislators and even ministers are deliberately ignored by either not informing them or choosing to bash them directly or indirectly , apparently in a bid to settle the political scores.
Congress’ young iconic leader Rahul Gandhi who spent crores of rupees across the country in conducting polls for the PYC units certainly would not have envisaged nor approved the concept of this body operating in deeply divided and distanced factions the way it is in J&K only few months after new body came into existence. His idea of conducting of the PYC polls in an innovative way was to make these functionally vibrant, united and effective, something which is just the reverse of the basic purpose. While he remains blissfully ignorant or ill informed about the functional aspects the PYC here in J&K, the top level executives continue to make the activities look more like personal forums for self aggrandizement or the occasions to boost self image more than that of the unit cumulatively.
While it happened over a couple of times in recent past at various places when the president Shah Nawaz choudhary did not deem it proper to invite his senior leaders, other functionaries at the local level, it was seen once again in Mansar where PYC held a rally in which the absence of local party leaders was conspicuous. According to sources and as per the claims made in the official press statement of PYC, no matter the unit had managed to gather some crowd of workers from various adjacent places but this could not substitute for the absence of the legislators, ex-legislators and other senior functionaries of the Congress who are otherwise consistent and concerned in nourishing this political constituency for the Congress. On the contrary, the speakers on this forum were seen pulling the legs of functionaries , only because they do not fall in the group their ‘bosses’ owe allegiance to.
Sources said in a rally organized at Billawar two weeks back by PYC president, it was once again a deliberate effort to ignore the lone MLA and minister in the Kathua district Dr Manohar Lal by not informing him nor extending any invitation for the same, which normal protocol demands so. In this function too, sources said some of the speakers brazenly leveled allegations of corruption against the Congress leaders of the constituency , albeit in a veiled manner . It is pertinent to mention that vice president and general secrettary of PYV who apparentsly who don’t go along well with the leadership too have been organising functions separately almost in parallel manner. In the back drop of this ‘waywardness’ and multi directional approach with regard to working with PYC and New Delhi had to intervene recently to chek ‘unhealthy trend’ but this ‘censorship’ too has not worked. |
