PoK guest drowns, body handed over to Pak authorities

Srinagar, Aug 1: A guest from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), who had come here to meet his relatives, drowned in frontier district of Kupwara. The body of Safeer Iqbal, a resident of PoK, was handed over to Pakistan authorities in presence of a Magistrate and Army authorities along with his two relatives at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector. Official sources said Iqbal had come here in the Karvan-e-Aman bus on July 12 to meet his relatives at Zurhama village in Kupwara district. However, taking a bath in a water harvesting pond at Kawari Zurhama, he drowned on July 30. It was only after several hours that the body could be brought following the pond water was dewatered by fire tenders rushed from Trehgam.
