| Committee to examine demand for new Administrative Units | | | SRINAGAR, AUGUST 01 – Government has constituted a committee to examine the demands of people regarding creation of new administrative units. This was stated by the Minister for CA&PD Hakim Mohammad Yasin on behalf of Chief Minister while replying a question by Mr. Bilal Ahmad Lodhi in Legislative Council today. He said the committee would be headed by the ex-Chief Secretary Dr. S. S. Bloria. He said the committee will submit its report within six months. Mr. Hakim in reply to the supplementaries raised by Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, Mr. G. R. Kar, Mr. B. A. Naz, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din bhat, Ms Sakina Ittoo, Mr. Mohammad Sultan Panditpuri, Mr. G. N. Lone and Mr. A. R. Takroo said that new administrative units has been created in the light of parametres adopted by the Wazir Commission and also keeping in view the public interests of various areas with due regard to population, topography and other administrative needs. While responding another question by Mr. Praduman Singh, the Minister said that 1377 houses and 347 shops were taken over by the Evacuee Property Department in Jammu city at the time of its inception in the year 1949. The department is managing 1725 houses and 324 shops at present. Replying the question by Mr. Ved Prakash Gupta, Mr. Hakim said that the Jammu and Kashmir State Lands (Vesting of Ownership to the Occupants) Act 2001 read with amended Act 2004 has come into force with effect from May 2004 under which ownership rights can be conferred upon the occupants/un-authorized occupants of the Nazool/State Land against the rates to be determined by Price Fixation Committee as per parameters laid down in the Act/Rules. The amount realized is proposed to be utilized for constructions of power projects in the state. He said that the rates in respect of 15 persons at Srinagar and three persons at Jammu have been approved by the Government for conferment of ownership rights under the aforesaid Act. No land has been sold/auctioned/leased during 2005-06. However, 27 kanals and 4 marlas of land has been provided to two firms involved in construction of Railway projects. |
