PDP supports Anna's indefinite fast against corruption | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 1: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its support to Anna Hazare for his crusade against corruption and demand to pass a strong Lokpal Bill. Addressing a press conference here today, PDP leader Vikram Singh along with others backed Anna's indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Singh said that after Raksha Bandhan, the PDP leaders will start a massive agitation against Centre and State Governments on the issue of corruption. "We are supporting Hazare's agitation in the public and country's interest," Vikram Singh said adding that he was not aware how many germs of corruption will be killed due to this spraying of pesticide in the form of hunger strike. PDP District Vice President (Youth) Girish Sharma asserted that it was his party that brought corruption issues to the forefront and now it will firmly stand behind the Gandhian in his agitation. Sharma further said PDP had not failed or delayed anywhere on raising such topical public issues. The country and its citizens have woken up now, and no government can crush their agitation. Sachin Sharma said that Hazare's agitation against corruption does not indicate that political parties including the PDP are incompetent or have failed to raise the issue effectively. "The agitation or movement on public issues by political parties and non-political (social) organisations should not be compared. Now its time to fight corruption jointly," Such public agitation should not be restricted to political parties, the society should always come forward with their leaders like Anna, he added.
