4-day poetic sitting concludes with Pahari naatiya mushaira | | | Early times report srinagar , Aug 2 : The JKAACL Central Hall glittered with a galaxy of poets and fans at a poetic sitting held here under the aegis of Pahari Section of the Academy today. Eminent poets from different parts of the state fascinated audience with their poetic collections mostly aimed at rendering praise to the holy prophet. The poets who presented their verses were: Sheikh Azad Ahmad Azad, Mohammed Azeem Khan, Abdul Aziz Dachnavi, Parvez Manoos, Mohammed Maqbool Sahil, Ghulabud Din Jaza, Mohammed Sarwar Rehan, Faroozud Beig, Syed Anwar Shaheen, Daanish Ashfaq Turq, Mashkoor Ahmad Shah, Nishat Afroz Nayeem and Abdul Wahid Khan. Today's mushaira, which saw about 15 poets in attendance, was one of four such poetic sittings which began at Academy headquarters here on Monday. During the preceding three days poetic sittings were held in languages like Urdu, Kashmiri and Gojri. Presided over by noted Pahari poet-writer, Sheikh Azad Ahmad, the mushaira was also attended by eminent poets - Faroozud Beig and Syed Yaseen Shah. In his presidential remarks, Sheikh Azad Ahmad praised the Pahari poets, hailing from different parts of the state, for their versatile rendering of poetic verses. He also congratulated the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organising a successful poetic sitting. Secretary JKAACL, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, while speaking on the occasion, thanked the poets for rendering beautiful verses and said that "poetry is a source of hope, happiness and beauty". |
