| Commissioner JMC seeks help in implementing ban on polythene | | Meets fruit, vegetable associations | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 3 : The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation convened a meeting with the representatives of Fruit & Vegetable Association Narwal Mandi regarding ban on the use of polythene carry bags. Threadbare discussion was held in the light of High Court order to make Jammu City polythene free as the use of polythene carry bags is causing a lot of problems in sanitation work, choking drains and resulting health hazards and causing public inconvenience in different localities within limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The Jammu Municipal Corporation solicited cooperation of public and representatives of different associations, while enforcing provisions of law and taking measures to impose ban on the use of polythene carry bags. The representatives of the Associations have assured full cooperation to JMC for discouraging the use of polythene carry bags and make the Jammu City polythene free.
In this context, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation has appealed to the general public to avoid the use of polythene carry bags while purchasing essential commodities/food items etc from the market. |
