| KPs mingle with locals in Budgam, organise Hawan | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 3: Inhabitants of District Budgam organised Raigna Bhagwati Hawan at Raithan in District budgam after a gap of nearly quarter a century. Hundreds of devotees visited the place with active participation of local population. Scenes of extreme joy resulted in tearful hugs.
Friends and neighbours meeting after a huge gap, communicated in choked voices. It was something which needed to be captured for eternity and retrospection. Love has the power to melt hugely created artificial boundaries. New generation has grown up during this period both among Hindus and Muslims.
It was heartening to see these people enjoying each other's presence. Organizers acknowledge the spontaneous response, love and reciprocate the same in equal measure.
However, except from Peoples Democratic Party, mainstream politicians disappointed us.
Local MLAs who belong to People Democratic Forum just gave a phone call and did not think the event of any importance to warrant his presence. National Conference MLC who belongs to the minority community also kept the organizers waiting but did not turn up nor was any National Conference leader of any significance around.
PDP district president Saifuddin Bhat joined the gathering and promised all help if such events are organised anywhere in the district. Kashmir Pandits hope that individual and group contacts of local people continue with increasing frequency for sustaining the apparent calm in the valley. Discriminative elements need to be isolated. |
